Great hotel, just across road from Windermere lake and very close to the ferry - a great location 10 minute walk to Ambleside and 30 mins on the ferry to Bowness.
The hotel is on the roadside so some traffic noise unless you stay in the garden rooms ( these are great - with excellent decor and fittings)
The Regent is a superb hotel sitting on the shores of Lake Windermere located at Waterhead Bay just five minutes walk from the delightful village of Ambleside, an ideal base for exploring the lakes. The hotel has a real homely feel to it, the bedrooms are comfortable, air- conditioned and fully equipped, the staff are exceeding friendly and helpful. You will not be disappointed with restaurant the food is excellent and as for the breakfast (served until noon) it will set you up for the day. To sum up I would recommend the hotel without reservation - the Regent is a little gem!
Toured the lake district, also took boat trip on the lake from the pier almost on the hotel's doorstep. One meal at the hotel (very good) and one booked in advance elsewhere as recommended by trip advisor/restaurant critique guides
Room was quite small and very hot but that is a very minor niggle
The hotel was immaculate and all the staff were very attentive and efficient. The room was very clean and comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent location, very near to Lake Windermere and a short walk to the small town of Ambleside. Very quiet even thought the hotel is conveniently located on a main road - nothing could be heard in the rooms. Very hearty and well-cooked breakfast, it set us up for the day and we didn't need lunch as it was so generous. Had an evening meal during our stay - very good again.
We'd never been to the Lake District before. The location of the hotel was excellent...just a 20minute amble along the road from the village of Ambleside itself, and right across the road from the pier on the lake. We stayed in a garden room which was very pleasant...we sat on the terrace with a glass of wine before dinner...we had glorious weather too. We took a walk up to the waterfall just outside the village and a boat to Bowness. We went from Sat to Monday and it was our 40th wedding anniversary..(the hotel even left a card for us in our room). We ate in the hotel and the food was really excellent. The breakfast is wonderful and really sets you up for the day.Altogether an excellent break. Definitely to be recommended.
Our whole experience was super. The attention to detail in our room. There was even an umbrella! We also loved the little wool sheep toy that was on the top of our bed! Brekfast was excellent and the staff were so friendly. Top quality hotel and we can't wait to go back there.
We liked our stay at the Hotel because the rooms were clean and fresh and the food was excellent.
We weren't happy that it was advertised (and we paid extra) for a swimming pool. The swimmimg pool was like a paddling pool and was locked Up. One of the reason for staying/booking this hotel was for the use of the pool!
as a dog owner it is a very enjoyable walk to ambleside by the lake
